I was tipped off to watch Granada Reports @ 6 last night. It featured Fred (I can’t remember his last name, but you may remember him leaping about on the British Isles (This Morning, Mersey Docks) a few years ago. Fred visits a different place in the North West each week (in a red 1960′s bubble car) and viewers have to guess where Fred is. This week it was Tyldesley’s turn. Freds article reminded me how much history has played in the towns past, from the vast coal mining pits, to the cotton mills that, unfortunately have now gone from our sky line.  If you missed the programme, here is a picture of Fred on Tyldesley Market….
